Mamavation - Week #8

Once again thank You everybody for the support . It is greatly appreciated - You are getting me going!

This week was about overcoming ongoing or let's just call it Stomach Flu week. Monday night my daughter throw up, but I didn't really know what to make out of it. It didn't hit me until other members of the family started getting sick. My mother-in-law (aka babysitter) on Wednesday, my 1 yo son on Thursday, my husband on Friday. Clearly I saw it coming my way, so drank insane amount of water, had some aloe and probiotic. I got away with very minor symptoms (few unplanned trips to the washroom). The moral - water heals. Call it whatever you want, but I truly believe in water intake (I probably took close to 5 liters over Friday and Saturday)

30 Day shred.
Girls, thank You very much for giving me a butt kick I needed to get up and move. It is not easy to do butt kicks when your butt is 200 lb. I never realized how much I like my couch like I did when I was kicking my butt (sorry for the redundancy, but this is my #1 unliked exercise). I refuse the weight myself for now, because I do not want to disappoint myself with muscle growth (weight gain). I got a late start, but I did complete 4 workouts this week. 26 to go

We going on vacation for few days, so I will be working out in the hotel room.

Keep track of goals

1. shed 10 lbs by the end of January. 9.8 (on 11/28/10) to go from 200 lb on 11/8/10 (start 04/01/10 - 209 lb). NOT CHECKING WEIGHT NOW
2. 2-3 gallons of water a day 5 out 7 days
3. Stop night snacking I slipped on Saturday - didn't eat because of the stomach, but couldn't handle it by the end of the day

This week’s blogging carnival is sponsored by Earth Footwear. Walk it and work it!

  2. Glad you are feeling better. I'm joining the Shred this week too, and agree that at over 200 pounds, I don't want to be bulking up right now. Good luck on your goals this week!

  3. Stomach issues stink. Literally. Ha ha. I amuse myself.

I know it seems counter-intuitive, but it will actually help you lose the fat to gain muscle. Muscle uses more calories up and you'll also not be using heavy weights, so I say give it a try.

Still a great workout without the weights!

Also, I don't do the full butt kicking exercise. I just go half way up. I'll get to kicking my own butt soon!!

Sounds like you're doing well otherwise. Proud of you!

  9. Oh, that stinks! I hate when the family gets sick. It is like being in a time warp... it just disappears as I care for all the sickos in the house ;)

Keep up the good Shred work! I know how hard it is to get 200 lbs moving... but, it is so worth it. You rock for being persistent. Keep it up.

  10. stomach bugs are the worst... but hey, i try to look at it as "getting rid of some extra weight"

Keep up the Shred.. i'm not quite ready for that kind of work out just yet. my 250 lb butt loves the couch way too much. LOL

see you tonight at the show
thanks for the support and welcoming me back into the sistahood.

  11. Wow! It's amazing that you didn't get sick! I'm a big believer in water as well. Your body needs it to function the way it is supposed to!

I have a big problem with night snacking as well. I'm making it one of my goals as well! We'll do it together!

  12. Amazing difference the water made!!!

Late night snacking may NOT be a bad thing though - if it is a habit, and you find yourself either slipping into it a lot more often than you'd like, or resenting the healthier you because of missing your snacks, go for some healthier options like veggies -
I know it's not junk food, but I find that some cucumber slices dipped in greek yogurt or a cup of sugar snap peas with about 8-10 black olives is healthy, but is still snack worthy :)

It's all about finding what works for you!

Good luck this week :) I know you are going to do GREAT!

  14. Your comment on my blog made me laugh....maybe we should start a support group for women with bulemic toddlers?? lol.
Sucks you are hypo too! I have Hashimotos disease, and I am hypo. I lose weight sooooooo slow. But I do lose, it just takes longer than the average person for sure.
Did you have any thyroid problems during pregnancy? I did not, thank goodness. I was pretty surprised. Actually the reason we got pregnant when we did is because my doctor told me that with my thyroid disorder it may be really hard for us to get pregnant, and then she reminded us that we couldn't do fertility treatments until we had been TTC for a year, and that I was close to thirty already.....I went home and cried to my husband saying the doctor said we were pretty much infertile, so we decided to TTC since it would just start that year.....two weeks later we were pregnant! It was awesome and I feel so blessed to have had no troubles with getting pregnant, I hope it is similar the second time around :)
