Week 2 #Mamavation

So guess, I got a late start on this thing, but better late than ever. Thank You Mamavation Sistas for taking time to read and talk to me

I spent months blogging to myself and trying to talk myself into not giving up (glance through some of it if You have time) and here I found a support group. I need support!!!

I am trying to drink more water. My usual goal is 3 gallon bottle, but it is a bit of a challenge right now, since I can't fit a huge bottle in my backpack (since I pedal myself to work). So I am sticking right now to 1 gallon and refill from the faucet if needed (Yak!)

I still cannot workout at home. My workout of choice is WII (has been since January), since I can't go anywhere. Due to the tide living arrangements, I have to be quite till my daughter falls asleep. But if I drop my butt down on the chair, You better believe it "the butt" ain't moving until it is time to go sleep.

While I am trying to figure out how to make it work, I will do the best I can cycling to work - two 20 minute rides.

My low - my daughter's birthday cake. Not willing to give it away, I am finishing it. Not proud of it.

2 twenty minute bicycle rides = 40 min

2 twenty minute bicycle rides = 40 min

1st ride - 26 minutes
2nd was 22 minutes, but I fell off the bike half way there (wasn't paying attention where the bike was going) and now my knee sooo hurts

I am doing much better (Thanks to the ice pack and cream gel my husband suggested I use). I wanted to to ride, but got up late and it takes me 40 minutes to get a family of four out of the house (and a minute less)

Bottom Line -
Challenges - Cake is almost gone (I did give away few pieces), so I will be better in doing it the right way
Late night snacking and eating - still have to figure it out. All the time after work is running around with kids. By the time they are in bed, it is too late to eat
Plan when to work out indoors (at home)

Wins - Idea with biking worked out great. Workout, saving money on gas, charging myself in the morning. It is all in one! Result - 128 minutes of power cycling

I started enforcing balanced meals in my family. We normally eat well , home made good food, but didn't do great on vegetables. Well, now I am prep salads for next day while making dinner for kids.

Goals: Drinking more water
Complete 11 bike runs before it gets really cold (for each week til the end of the year). Have 3, still have to do 8
Stop eating late

  1. Welcome! You will get tons of support and suggestions, so it's great you have pledged. Do you tweet too? The cycling is awesome!! Keep it up!!

  2. BTW - I highly recommend you check out PeteCohen TV and tweet him about the free giveaways he was doing during the mamavation twitter party. It will help you a lot.

  3. Thank You. I tweet. @elenka29 and I will check everything out

  4. Cake! It's my weakness! I love it and I know the feeling, I have a hard time throwing food out even if it's not good for me! Try chugging that water and getting active even if you just add a little more! Baby steps!

  5. Yeah that cake does look good, lol. Welcome again to Mamavation, I look forward to getting to know you. I agree with Kimberly, baby steps. As you create your goals and get in a rhythm everything will fall into place. Best of luck to you as you try to meet your goals this week.

  6. I had birthday cake this past week too... I made my husband take the leftovers to work with him because I couldn't handle it being in the house. It's soooooooooo good!!!

You sound like you're doing great with the biking! That's awesome! I wish we lived somewhere where that was an option, but the nearest store is 11 miles away. Not so much of an option for us..

I'm glad you found us and I'm looking forward to reading more!

  7. That is so cool that you are biking to work!! I wish that was an option for me (kind of wish, I work from a home office, so that is pretty awesome most of the time! lol).
I am pledging this week, and look forward to getting to know you!

  8. Oh, cake... you vile and delicious temptation! I am in the midst of birthday "season" in our family. We have had a birthday or 3 every weekend and will for the next 3 weeks. Ugh. Okay, moving on... I also pledged the other week and am glad to get to know you better. Wish you all the luck and look forward to mutual support and motivation.

  9. I love bike commuting. I had to give it up early in my pregnancy due to a lot of ice on the roads and now that baby is 4 months old I still have not been back on the bike (I am too nervous to commute with him in a bike trailer this young).

You did find a nice support group here with Mamavation. Congrats on adding more veggies to your meals. Stick to that water and the 11 bike run goal for now. It is all about baby steps.

  10. Welcome! Great job on biking to work, that's so awesome. I'm new around here too and look forward to getting to know you.

  11. I really like your goal with the biking. I'm sure if you really commit, you will have no trouble achieving and maybe even surpassing that goal! Biking to work is great! I hope your knee gets better. Sorry you took a tumble off the bike but glad that your injuries wasn't worse.

  12. Damn cake. But what are you gonna do, right?
    Biking is fantastic!
And three gallons of water a day? Did I read that right? I'd never leave the bathroom. But after reading that, I am all of a sudden thirsty . . .
    Have a great week!

  13. I honestly don't blame ya! I have the biggest sweet tooth! Great job with the water; that is really awesome :) How do you like the Wii? I don't have one, but it looks fun.

  14. Birthdays are sooo bad! I myself had a cake breakdown a few weeks ago. Drowning it out with water can help you feel better if you get cake comatosed. You are totally rocking with the water! Keep it up and you will do great!

  15. i used to be a cake addict: I had it for breakfast every day growing up during birthdays. Not good. And I know where you are coming from. Good job on the biking and the water! focus on the positive. ;)

  16. great job on the biking keep up the good work, i fall prey to snackng too hugs good luck this week

  17. Wow! So impressed with you cycling to work! Great way to exercise AND save money!!

I take my measurements once a month, and I get on the scale once a week, unless the monthly visitor is here, then I skip it.

You're doing great - keep it up!

  18. I think the fact that you're cycling to work will make a big difference. Just that little bit of exercise will help you start to feel better and help you want to do more exercise. Have a great week!
